Lotions and liniment is watery and more or less liquid in nature. You choose fatter preparations for a very dry and scaly skin, and creams or lotions to less dry areas of the skin. Unfortunately, many people find it difficult to use fat ointments even when they are needed. Fat creams can also worsen certain skin and even cause the so called folliculitis. Even within groups, among various creams, there are differences in how fat they are. Personal preferences will always play a roll when choosing because in the end it often becomes very personal.
